Maurice Sendak on the Colbert Report

, , on January 27, 2012

For Part 2.
The Colbert Report is absolutely outstanding, certainly one of the best shows on television (or hulu). Some other good recent clips regarding Newt’s ability to cut through the bullshit and Santorum’s pandering to seniors.

The Impossible Astronaut

on April 23, 2011

The first episode of Doctor Who premiered today, The Impossible Astronaut (part 1 of 2). The story was iffy, but the episode looked fantastic. Click on for a some more images.
Update The second part of the season opener was terrible on a variety of levels. I’m starting to miss RTD’ era.

Stephen Colbert Interviews Brian Greene + cosmology

, , , , on January 31, 2011

Once you are done smiling, you can read this Scientific American article, which provides a good intro to parallel universes. Then read this book (A User’s Guide to the Universe). Next get a degree in math/physics/astronomy and eventually a doctorate in cosmology/astrophysics. Subsequently, clearly explain the details of how scientists think the universe works to humanity. Somewhere along the way figure out why it matters. Finally, start smiling again.

The Life & Times of Tim

, on September 8, 2010

I’ve been watching the first season of the show and it is funny, with lots of deadpan humor. The characters are pretty fleshed out and have great voices. The animation is different in a good way (what adjective replaces that statement?) and the crudeness adds a level of visual interest.
